Warm Cacao Date Bedtime Milk
A cozy, naturally-sweet hot chocolate blended with dates instead of sugar, gently spiced and calming — the perfect wind-down cup. Magnesium-rich cacao and dates to settle you before sleep.

Why you'll love this recipe
- Not one spoon of refined sugar
- Sweetened with whole dates
- Makes enough for 2
- Easy, with clear steps and nothing fussy
What you'll need
Everything here is a real ingredient you can find in a normal shop. Nothing artificial, no powders pretending to be sugar. Here is the full list, with the quantities I actually use.
- 2 cups (480 ml) milk of choice
- 4 soft Medjool dates, pitted
- 2 tbsp raw cacao or cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon, pinch nutmeg, pinch salt
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
How to make it
Warm the milk with the dates until steaming (this softens the dates for blending).
Carefully blend everything until completely smooth and frothy.

Return to the pan briefly if you like it hotter.
Pour into mugs.
Dust with cinnamon.
Storage
Keep it covered in the fridge and it will hold for three to four days. If you are making it ahead, hold back any fresh topping until just before you serve so nothing goes soft. Most of these freeze well too, wrapped tight, for up to three months.
